After working in Colorado, I came home to find a piece of indoor window trim nailed to my dining room floor! Apparently, the perfect pressure built up between indoor and outdoor temperatures allowed the trim to pop, flip and land nail side down on the wood floor.
The resulting cavity revealed a perfect circle cut in the exterior wall. The only thing keeping out 22° below zero or a sweltering 104° heat was one piece of exterior window trim through which I could see yellow, the trim color! At the bottom of the cavity, old insulation had turned to dust, unless it was a small chunk waiting for me to touch it, and then turn to dust.
Exploring cork sizes, I found the perfect filler for the exterior hole.
Cutting through packaging on the porch, an insulation fan exploded into existence. Cork and insulation were stuffed in and the trim wood is back on.
I just don’t want to think about what is behind the side window trim pieces right now because the air conditioner quit working too. Next.
